Standard Dinse system components are used but with a special wire feed control system which applies a periodic reversal of the wire. This process improves drop transfer and therefore reduces the short-circuit current.

The reduced current results in lower temperature welding and therefore less distortion. The process also produces less spatter and has good gap bridging properties.

The equipment is light and compact giving good access to difficult shape parts. Fast welding speeds can be achieved leading to high production rates.

The 'Cold' MIG welding process is suited to welding of thin sheet high alloyed steels and aluminium alloys or brazing surface-coated materials and dissimilar joints.

Olympus can also supply robots and MIG welding machines for a complete automated welding solution.
