The Dinse laser welding wire feed unit is designed to give an extremely stable and precise delivery of wire into the weld pool. This is achieved using PUSH-PUSH wire feed technology.

In addition to the encoder on the front control motor, an additional encoder is mounted on the wire just after the front control motor to monitor the actual wire speed. This is used for monitoring and error checking.

A unique feature of the Dinse system is its wire positioning control at the end of one weld ready for the next. At the end of the wire feed on signal, or at a specific time after the end of this signal, or on receipt of a special input signal, the wire can be reversed a precise distance in millimetres. This will be an exact distance due to the feedback being taken from the encoder measuring the wire movement and not the one on the motor.

At the end of this reverse, or at a specific time after it, or on receipt of further special input signal, the wire can be fed forward another exact distance to position the wire precisely, ready for the next weld. This gives a reproducible start to each weld.

The system can be controlled and monitored from a control panel on the side of the control unit or using Windows based software on a PC.

Options are available for standard cold wire feed, hot wire feed (applying a low current to the wire to make it melt more easily) and hybrid MIG (using a combination of laser and MIG welding.

Olympus can also supply robots for a complete automated welding solution.
